नई दिल्ली: केन्द्र सरकार ने जेल में बंद गरीब लोगों के लिए एक नई योजना शुरू करने का फैसला किया है। योजना के तहत सरकार गरीब लोगों को वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करेगी। सरकार का मानना है कि इससे जेलों में बढ़ रहा बोझ भी घटेगा।
गृह मंत्रालय ने शुक्रवार को कहा कि योजना से गरीब कैदी जैसे सामाजिक रूप से कमजोर, अशिक्षित और निम्न आय स्तर से संबंधित लोगों की मदद की जाएगी। इस योजना से सरकार उन्हें जेल से बाहर निकलने में वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करेगी। जेल में बंद गरीब लोगों तक योजना का लाभ पहुंचे, इसके लिए ई-प्रिजन प्लेटफॉर्म को मजबूत किया जाएगा। कानूनी सेवा संगठनों को भी मजबूत किया जाएगा।
वित्त मंत्री निर्मला सीतारमण ने बजट भाषण-2023 में गरीब कैदियों को वित्तीय सहायता प्रदान करने की घोषणा की थी। इसमें वह लोग शामिल हैं, जो दंड या जमानत राशि नहीं भर सकते। गृह मंत्रालय ने कहा कि सरकार विचाराधीन कैदियों की समस्याओं को हल करने के लिए कदम उठा रही है। मंत्रालय ने कहा कि आईपीसी में धारा 436 ए और सीआरपीसी में एक नया अध्याय XXIA प्ली बारगेनिंग शामिल करना है।
